Governors Island takes a trip back in time for a gorgeous summer tradition; the Jazz Age Lawn Party. Aboard the ferry, you will head to the island alongside thousands of others dressed in their best 1920’s traditional fashion. You can sit back and enjoy music from Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra while you sip on cocktails or learn dances from the roaring twenties. The weekend of live jazz and signature drinks such as the Flapper’s Delight takes place from August 13th to August 14th. You’ll also have the chance to indulge in new age food vendors such as Melt Bakery and Moms Cooking so you can keep your energy up while you dance the night away.

BURGER BATTLE

You may want to wear stretchy pants to this event. Happening August 18th at the iconic South Street Seaport is New York City’s very own Battle of the Burger. New Yorkers are known for being loyal to their favorites, but will a new comer take the crown this year? Grab a friend, a beer, and an appetite; and head down to the Seaport to place your vote!

DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY

If you’re looking for something different, exhilarating and fun; the Full Moon Festival is for you. Located on lovely Governors Island, Full Moon Festival NYC is the perfect opportunity to see the island and party with friends or make new friends. In its sixth year of being one of NYC’s top festivals, this fest is modeled after the all night parties thrown on the Thai island of Koh Phangan. The lineup features artists who blend dance and hip-hop music to give you a unique musical experience. For a full line up and ticket info, click here.

For two weeks, Flushing Queens will be the place to be for all things tennis. The U.S. Open makes it way to Queens from August 29th to September 11th. With a little more hype than Wimbledon, New Yorkers flock here not only for tennis top pros, but also for live music and international food venders. Day or night, this isn’t something you want to miss. Head over to Ticketmaster or the official U.S. Open site for more info, plus ticket options and pricing!

Whatever it is that you’re looking for to fill your summer days, New York City will not disappoint. From jazz to EDM festivals and burger eating contests to 1920’s dress up, boredom is not possible. These summer months won’t last forever, so get up and get out! Enjoy the sunshine and create new memories with the ones you love.
