September is here and that means fall is literally right around the corner! But just because the temperatures will be decreasing, that doesn’t mean your social life has to! NYC is hot with things to do year round and this September is no different. This month brings us everything from music festivals to food festivals. The fun doesn’t stop there though, between New York Fashion Week and Oktoberfest, there are tons of options.  If you fancy getting out of the busy city for Labor Day weekend, we have a suggestion for that! Labor Day Getaway: Sept 1st – Sept 3rd

If sometimes the hustle and bustle of NYC can become too much for you, trust us, we understand. This Labor Day grab your friends and a car because it’s time for a weekend getaway. West Indian Parade: September 4th

While drawing over two million people a year, it’s no wonder the West Indian Parade is one of the best events to end this summer. Surround yourself entirely in Caribbean culture this Labor Day weekend while either watching the march or by chowing down on the authentic Caribbean food that will be available from the many vendors along the route through Crown Heights. Oktoberfest: September 16th – October 2nd

Along with the beautiful foliage, accessibility to pumpkin spice lattes whenever you wish and colder weather, Autumn also brings us the highly anticipated Oktoberfest. What is Oktoberfest? Oktoberfest originated in Germany but is generally celebrated all over the united states. People participate by consuming copious amounts of beer, eating pretzels and even sometimes doing some polka dancing. Along with the great selection of brews and food this festival can offer, it also gives you a chance to experience some of NYC’s best beer gardens and parks! The Meadows: September 15th – 17th

Calling all music buffs, this one is for you. 55+ of the trendiest artists are coming together to bring you a three day festival experience unlike any other. Across four stages, artists like Jay-Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Run the Jewels, Future, Migos, and Weezer will captivate you. Along with a killer line up, The Meadows also offers a ton of delicious food vendors including Dough, Ramen Burger and The Nugget Spot. New York Fashion Week: September 7th – 13th

New Yorkers are a lot of things, but one thing they are predominantly known for is their style. New York Fashion Week kicks off a week long celebration and appreciation for some of the best names in Fashion right now. Beginning September 7th, NYC will be crawling with some of the most well known fashion designers around, gorgeous models, and a ton of new designs. These shows aren’t just for the elite or socialites though! There are a lot of shows that the public can also attend. Whether you’re an aspiring designer, a hopeful model, or you want to brag to all your friends how you were front row at a #NYFW show, this may just be your week. If all of these events still leave you wanting more, we’ve got you covered. If there is one thing that can really bring New Yorkers together, its food. September features two of the best food festivals, straight from a foodies dream. First up is smorgasboard, a food festival that draws a staggering 20,000 to 30,000 visitors per week. With 75-100 food vendors it’s easy to see why. Located on Williamsburg’s East River on Saturdays and Prospects Parks Breeze Hill on Sundays, Smorgasboard operates from 11am to 6pm until November when it actual joins with Brooklyn Flea and moves inside. If food trucks are more of your thing, head over to the Governors Island on September 16th for the Vendy Awards. September is the month of new beginnings, so get out there and make the most of this month! Try a new cuisine, take a drive and purposely get lost, or go see that band you have been dying to see but can never seem to find the time.
